Hi Jeff;
I saw you behind Rod in David Letterman show on New Year's eve. According
to the record, you were in his guest on June15, 1990, is that right?
Yesterday, new year's day, I got into The Blues. PBS was doing marathon. I
did not know original air. I'm sure you saw or got DVD box set or so.
My favorite was Red Whit & Blues Jeff Beck is in it. Amazingly, he can
play any style!! and Piano Blues since I play a little keyboard.
It was interesting, the origin was expression of life and go to new generation,
it was played as a style of music.
I did not know that " Oh baby, I leave you.." etc. was not love
song, slaves sang about masters. If they say about master, they get killed.
In that point, I was wondering, " if blues = life, Jeff is too happy
to play blues? but he sounds so good..." then, comes to conclusion, because
of the music as the style, technique, the expression of abstractness, it does
not matter, what condition the artist is in.
The early blues is more like material, ingredients then, it becomes the form
of art.
Yoshiko
Yoshiko,
I think everyone has the blues and one time or another ( when a baby cries
because he wants his bottle, he's got the blues).
Also the blues dont have to be sad, they can be a celebration
Thanks
Jeff
